Hello everyone. Good evening. Good morning. The hula hoop that spins to the right is an even better act. And as always, I can’t spin it to the left. Today, as always, I would like to deliver an article with a loose content. Thank you in advance.
Keep the scale where it can be seen, me
Sorry to start with a headline like a memo that you stick on your desk with a post-it note.
Where do you all keep your scales? I guess most of you keep it in the dressing room? Since I have my own scale, I keep it in my room.
Voila!
This is how I leave this scale, which I don’t use 98% of the day, out in my room. Honestly, it’s in the way. I need to move it before I run the robot vacuum cleaner. It’s a hassle. And as an interior decoration, it’s disappointingly bad. (Please ignore the fact that the entire interior of my room is disappointing)
I used to put it away
Because it was in the way and not stylish, I used to keep it in the closet when I wasn’t using it. What do you think happened then?
I try to weigh myself in as similar a state as possible, so I try to weigh myself before meals
However, I forget to weigh myself before meals because the scale is not in sight
I realize after meals, etc., so I think, “Well, I’ll skip it today”
I repeat steps 2 and 3 in the following days
I stop weighing myself regularly, and I become scared to step on the scale As a result, the scale ends up collecting dust in a corner of the closet. Poor scale.
Then came the 2023 health check
The health check for the fiscal year 2023. I will receive my second metabolic syndrome diagnosis on this memorable day, at my highest weight in my life.
I decided to start a serious diet because I figured if I kept going at this rate, I would face my highest weight in life and probably my third metabolic syndrome diagnosis at next year’s health check.
Knowing your weight is very important when dieting. So, the first thing I did was to buy a new scale. (*) New things are exciting, aren’t they? And you want to try them out, don’t you? So I decided to leave the new scale out so that I would use it the next day. As a result, I started stepping on the scale every day, and by repeating this, I developed the habit of weighing myself regularly, and it was a happy ending.
I also tried to get notifications on my smartphone
In fact, I tried to set up notifications for weight measurements on my smartphone, but it didn’t work out a few years ago or this year.
I forget to weigh myself while I’m doing something else when the notification comes in
I miss or ignore the notification itself
From this, I realized that notifications on my smartphone are not suitable for me, so I’m relying on the strategy of leaving the scale out.
I also leave sticky notes on the top left of the screen while I’m working
I’m the type who easily forgets things, so even when a new task suddenly comes up, I always keep a note on the top left of my Mac with an app called Stickies so that I don’t forget what I was doing or what I’m going to do. I’ve tried apps like Notion and TODO, but I’ve found that simply keeping a plain notepad on the top left all the time is the most efficient, so I’m using sticky notes.
(It’s also convenient because I can temporarily stick things like randomly generated passwords here until I move them to a document.)
▲ Incidentally, a technical website that I’m going to look at properly one day has been present in my tabs for about two weeks now. Not good.
It doesn’t look very pretty, but I think it’s better to have sticky notes than not, so I’m going to stick with this style. (Would it be a little more fashionable if I changed the color of the sticky notes?)
The usual corner where I answer questions even though no one asked
Q. Why are you getting a new scale even though you already have one?
It seems like you’re the type to get carried away with appearances
Ugh!!! Look, the old scale, depending on where you stepped, there would be about a 1kg error, and if you didn’t step right in the center, it would lose balance and tilt, which was a downside and it was tough. So that’s why I replaced it. Yes. I didn’t buy it just to get excited when I didn’t need it (to deceive myself)
※ Cannot deny that I’m the type to get carried away with appearances
Q. Before discussing interior decor, I think it’s uncool to have a sticker on the scale. What is that?
The previous scale was the type that would easily produce a 1kg error depending on where you stood, so I thought it would be terrible if this one was the same type, so I put masking tape on it as a guide for where to stand. So far, it gives me the same readings even if I stand in a different place, so I think it might be okay to peel it off soon, but I’m too scared to do so.
