Various “terms” have surrounded us and permeated our lives. We feel like we know the words somehow. But do you understand them or can you explain them?
Inclusion” is something we hear more and more often, along with diversity. In Japanese, the words “inclusion,” “inclusion,” and “inclusion” are often confusing… In this issue, we will delve into the vagaries of inclusion. Please bear with us.
What is inclusion?
First, let’s look at the meaning of the word. The literal translation of inclusion into Japanese is “hōkatsu, hōgan, hōsetsu. As can be seen from the fact that each of these words is separated in Japanese, there does not seem to be a single Japanese word that fits perfectly. In English, the word “inclusion” includes everything.
Next, let us consider the meaning of the Japanese word Comprehensive means**Bringing it all together. The The inclusions areOne thing embraces and contains another within it.**In addition to Inclusion means to wrap up, as well as to wrap up,Being wrapped up in something more generalThere is a “yes” and a “no”. Simply put, it is something like “cats are included in animals” or “bananas are food”.
It’s a bit complicated, isn’t it? Simply put, it means “to bring together and enclose in one”.

Inclusion in work
Originally, the term “inclusion” (social inclusion) was used to refer to the state of being excluded from society for some reason, or social exclusion.social exclusionIt was created as a synonym for the word the opposite of exclusion, i.e., not to exclude, but rather to recognize as a whole. On top of that,**To be all encompassing as a society.**It is.
Accept, not exclude, those who are different from us. Then, we must create an environment in which each individual can fully demonstrate his or her abilities. In the workplace, it is often used in this way to mean that various personalities and characteristics are brought together and work together. In the workplace, it is often used to mean “to work together by bringing together various personalities and traits.
What are the benefits of inclusion?
The concept of inclusion is gaining attention because, as with diversity, the workforce is shrinking.
Work with peace of mind and increase productivity
I have a place where I belong. I can consider myself accepted in this place. This is called psychological safety. When psychological safety is created, people can think that it is okay to express their opinions and that they will not be denied. When everyone thinks that it is okay to express their opinions, a lively exchange of opinions can take place and good ideas can be generated.
So the foundation for good ideas is that everyone feels they belong.
What is togetherness? How should we think about it?
What do you mean by togetherness? At any rate, does it mean that everyone is in the same place? What does inclusion in work mean? Let’s dig a little deeper.
First, consider the opposite of inclusion: exclusion. Exclusion. What would happen to an organization that did not tolerate anything different and consisted only of the same positions? It is difficult to create conflicts because all the same opinions are shared. However, when conflict does not arise, it becomes difficult to consider various possibilities. Having various viewpoints is similar to being able to perceive things in three dimensions. From the top, from the bottom, from an angle…in order to have various viewpoints, you need to be in various positions.
But it is very difficult to have so many different positions in one place. Naturally, there are many people whose opinions differ from our own. There are also unconscious distinctions (unconscious bias) and microaggressions that arise from such distinctions.
Think of each of these things as a wall. When there are several walls in one place, it is just too tight. Both you and the other party may be crushed by the walls. Instead of a lively exchange of ideas, there may be conflict. When there are walls, your voice will not reach the other person.
We want to break down barriers and treat all workers equally, regardless of their differences. This means an environment where it is easy for everyone around you and for yourself to work and be active in a relaxed manner.
Knowing that it is not easy.
It is not easy to say in a few words that we are going to remove walls. First of all, we need to ask ourselves what kind of walls we see around us. It is important to have a multifaceted viewpoint, to see that there may be walls that we do not see, but that others can see. It may be a good idea to think about how to build not only a relationship of top and bottom, but also a relationship of equals.
Each organization has its own walls and solutions to problems, so there is no single “right” answer. There is no single “right answer. Because there is no right answer, it is important to create an environment in which various opinions can be exchanged without fear.
Diversity and Inclusion
When we think of different positions and opinions, we think of diversity. Diversity and inclusion are two words that are often used in combination and are inseparable. Diversity and inclusion are often treated as a set and are inseparable. Only when these two elements are in place can we begin to think about what makes it easy for various people to work together.
summary
In this issue, we delved into the somewhat of inclusion. It was about “not building walls with features and personalities, but rather, encapsulating everything as a whole. I want to think, “What barriers do we have, and what effect would it have to make them smaller? We will continue to delve into the issue of creating an environment where all people can work easily, so please stay with us.
